New Project Selection Policy Adopted
After more than a yearlong development process, MnDOT adopted a new project selection policy in November 2018.
In the Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan and the Minnesota State Highway Investment Plan, MnDOT committed to increasing the transparency of the agency's highway construction project selection process. In 2017, the Minnesota Legislature also directed MnDOT to develop an objective and transparent project selection policy that uses numeric scoring.
After more than a yearlong development process, MnDOT adopted a new project selection policy in November 2018.
Project selection is the decision to fund a project and add it to the list of projects to be constructed. Selected projects are listed in the 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan and 4-year State Transportation Improvement Program. The new project selection policy will be implemented with the 2020-2023 State Transportation Improvement Program and 2020-2029 Capital Highway Investment Plan.
As part of the policy, MnDOT has also published a Guide to MnDOT Project Selection.
