Minnesota Walks Implementation Guides

Minnesota Walks

Helping communities make it easier for people to walk.

In late 2016, MnDOT and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) published Minnesota Walks. Minnesota Walks provides a vision to make our communities safe, convenient and desirable places to walk. Recently, MDH created two guides to help address common barriers to achieving this goal.

One guide provides best practices for funding and making sidewalk improvements happen. The other guide focuses on winter maintenance and offers strategies that other places use to make walking easier when snow and ice is present. Sidewalk repairs and snow clearing are two key challenges identified in Minnesota Walks.
