Access Management Manual Update

Multimodal Plan

Updating MnDOT technical guidance to incorporate new practices and policy direction.

In the Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan, MnDOT committed to update technical guidance to incorporate new practices and policy direction. One key guidance document is our Access Management Manual, which guides the placement of driveways and intersections along state highways.

Over the past year, we worked to developed a new framework for access management. We are currently working on finalizing the new guidance. A few things to look foward to in the updated manual are new types of intersections, a more multimodal perspective and additional flexibility for local priorities.
